What Is the Lead Time for Custom Nails from China?

The short answer

For a custom press-on nail order from a Guangzhou nail factory direct, plan on 5–7 weeks door-to-door: about one week of sampling, one week of revisions, three weeks of bulk production and one week of DHL shipping. Sea freight adds 25–40 days on top.

Week 1 — brief & digital design

You send a moodboard, target retail price and destination market. Within 48 hours we quote MOQ, tiered pricing and lead time. Days 3–7 we deliver 3D renders of the tip shape and packaging mockups. Nothing is manufactured yet; you are approving digital work.

Week 2 — physical sample

Days 8–14 we handmake 1–2 sample sets and ship them by DHL. This is where you check curvature, finish, rhinestone size, wear on your own nails and packaging feel. Expect to request at least one revision — nobody nails a shape on the first try.

Week 3 — revision round

Most projects need one revision (shape depth, top-coat gloss, crystal density). A revised sample ships within 5 business days. Two revisions is normal; three usually means the brief was under-specified — a paid design consult is faster.

Weeks 4–6 — bulk production

Bulk starts the day final samples are approved and 40% deposit is received. For handmade luxury press-ons, expect 15–25 days on the floor for 500–1,000 sets. Factory-produced runs are faster at 10–15 days but need custom molds if the tip shape is new (add 15 days).

You get weekly progress photos on WhatsApp and a QC video before dispatch. Balance payment is due before the container leaves.

Week 7 — dispatch

DHL/FedEx air express to the US, UK, EU and GCC lands in 5–8 business days. DDP shipping (we cover duty and clearance) is available on wholesale orders. Sea freight for pallet quantities takes 25–40 days depending on port.

How to shorten the timeline

• Approve the digital render the same day — every unanswered email adds a day
• Skip revision #2 by writing "close enough, proceed" on revision #1
• Order from an existing shape mold instead of commissioning a new one — saves 15 days
• Split the shipment: fly 20% by DHL immediately, sea-ship the rest
